Classic theater "by, for, and with ALL sorts of people."

 

Raised Spirits works with and for those who don't receive exposure to the power of Shakespeare and his contemporaries works. 

 

We go places that others would prefer to forget; schools, mental institutions, old age homes, and jails.   We perform the plays for these people --- and we put them in the work also.   We give the old, the young, the disenfranchised, the incarcerated, and the poor the chance to experience the "celerity of thought"  and human passion that makes the Elizabethans so special. 

 

We train the next generation of theater artists that are committed to working with these populations.   We train using classical discipline in body, voice and speech with the best of modern realistic acting as embodied in the work of Meisner, Adler, and Strasberg.  Our teaching strategies come such diverse inspirations as the work of August Boal, Shakespeare & Company, and Playback Theater.

 

We use all our mother wit and essential force to do our work.  We are completely invested in doing what we do.  It is our life blood.
